The Gazette Office of the Cayman Islands Government published the Mutual Funds (Amendment) Law 2012 (Law 31 of 2012) on 11th January 2013.

The amended law:

  • Provides revised definitions of various terms in the law, including the definition of ‘Master Fund’;
  • Provides for the registration of non-resident mutual fund administrators, thus expanding the scope of the registration requirement;
  • Widens the power to make regulations; and
  • Provides for incidental and connected purposes.

The Legislative Assembly passed the amendments on 23rd November 2012.
