As of the 12th of September 2017 the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) will reduce the period of temporary suspension period (which applies during price changing events) .
The Exchange suspends trading in order ensure market stability in the face of dramatic price changes. The new changes will reduce this period of suspension from 30 mins to 15 mins.
The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) has delegated the Exchange the power to maximise and minimise the suspension period between 15 and 30 minutes in accordance with market conditions.
The change has been made possible due to technological developments which have allowed the Exchange to access data more easily. Essentially, the Exchange can now identify risks to price changes more easily.
