Ngatia Kirungie | Head Secretariat, Kenya Pension Funds Investment Consortium (KEPFIC)
Ngatia is Head Secretariat of the Kenya Pension Funds Investment Consortium (KEPFIC), a consortium of Kenyan pension funds with approximately USD 5.25 billion in assets that have come together to jointly assess and invest in infrastructure and alternative asset investments opportunities in the East African region. He is also of Managing Director of Spearhead Africa, a Nairobi-based full-service financing and advisory business, Africa Leader of the Obama Foundation and Lead Housing and Infrastructure Finance Advisor to The Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP), a USD 300 million World Bank funded program to deliver improved housing in Kenya.
Mr Kirungie is a seasoned professional who formerly served as Goldman Sachs’ Executive Director of Emerging Markets (Africa). Prior to founding Spearhead Africa, Ngatia was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London where he led the firm’s Africa fixed income sales and credit coverage and was responsible for leading financing and public market investment transactions valued at over USD 5 billion across Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa.
Ngatia is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he received his MBA (Finance and Investment specialization). He received a Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration (Honors) from the United States International University in Nairobi and is a 2019 Obama Foundation Africa Leader.
Mr Ewart Salins | CEO, Apollo Asset Management Company
Ewart is currently the CEO for Apollo Asset Management Company. He has over two decades’ experience in the capital markets having started out his career as an actuarial consultant with Hymans Robertson (now Zamara) before transitioning into investment banking working with African Alliance, Kestrel Capital, Dry Associates, and the Old Mutual in various capacities.
He is currently a Director at the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks (KASIB) and a member of the Fund Managers’ Association (FMA) where he chairs the Alternative Investments Committee. In addition, he sits on the Steering Committee of the Kenya Pension Funds Investment Consortium (KEPFIC) tasked with pushing the alternatives investment agenda within the retirement benefits industry.
Besides dedicating his time to the capital markets, he is actively involved in mentoring and supporting young Kenyan entrepreneurs and university students.
