The European MiFID Template (EMT) was initially introduced in August 2017 .

The template allows for the dissemination of information re the target market and costs of products, form manufacturers to distributors, to allows distributors ensure they need their obligations under MiFID II re appropriate selling of products.

Some of the most notable changes were the inclusion of ESG fields in v4.0 and UK consumer duty fields in v4.1.

The current version is the EMT v4.1. This has been in place since April 2023 (with a slight amendment in May 2023).
