These are the voyages of the Starship Post Brexit Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new financial opportunities. To seek out new investment and income. To boldly go where no fund manager has gone before!
In a rare move for the financial world there has been a push back on liberalisation and deregulation. A number of major London fund managers are taking a stand against proposed new listing regimes to bring in Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPAC’s)and Tech companies to the cities’ exchanges, LSE and Aquis. They fear this risks “watering down” investor protections
Some however view the liberalisation as essential to maintain London as a financial hub and continuing to compete on the global stage in a post Brexit, post Covid world.
The FT notes departure of Tech stocks such as Arm has “cemented the blue chip FTSE 100 index’s bias towards financials energy and mining stocks”
